The Epsilon ES sensor is designed for accurate measurement of fuel level in vehicle tanks and stationary containers. It is used in fuel consumption control systems and GPS-monitoring of transport. The measurement type is capacitive.

Working principle

The probe is immersed in the fuel and works as a variable capacitor :

• capacity changes proportionally to fuel level

• the signal is converted into a digital code

• processing includes filtering, scaling and temperature compensation

Assembling

• It is recommended to use standard length probes → minimize rework

• Fastening — self-drilling screws + sealant

• The cable is protected by a metal sleeve or corrugation

Calibration (tare)

Process:

1. The tank is filled/drained in equal portions

2. Fixing indicators after each step

3. Building a calibration table

Recommendations:

• Portion volume: 5–10 l (depends on tank geometry)

• For a 500 l tank → ~10 l step

• Use the same type of fuel as in operation
